Cinema is one of the most popular and influential art forms, as well as core business at the heart of the media industries. The minor in Cinema Studies combines coursework in Film History, Theory and Aesthetics with hands-on coursework in film and video production at the introductory level.
The minor in Cinema Studies may be a special interest to majors in English, Communications, Drama, Art, Music, Business, and any other student preparing for a creative career in 21st Century entertainment industries. Upon completion of the program:
Students will be able to perform research in the history of filmmaking.
Students will be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in film- and videomaking at the introductory level.
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the genres and applications that define the discipline.
