The goal of the Teacher Education Honors Academy is to educate undergraduate students who have a demonstrated talent in Science and Mathematics and who have a sincere desire to teach in the high schools or middle schools. Teacher Academy students have a choice of four majors: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Mathematics, or Physics. They must complete all the requirements for their chosen major as well as the undergraduate sequence of education courses required for initial teacher certification. The Teacher Education Honors Academy students acquire hands-on experience in New York City public middle or high schools and this experience begins in the first semester in the Teacher Education Honors Academy program. Students in the Teacher Education Honors Academy are eligible for financial and academic assistance and for internships in middle and high schools.
