This interdisciplinary course explores key contemporary social justice issues and movements in Latin American and US-Latinx populations through literature and other cultural productions. It grapples with representations of issues such as gender disparity and violence, armed conflict and displacement, extraction and transnational economies, immigration, and environmental justice. The class explores how literature and other forms of artistic representation document injustice and represent struggles for social and political change. (Humanities requirement in the LACL Minor)
