Description

A survey of Western art music in Europe and the Americas from the last decade of the nineteenth century through the current day. Students will study the history of modernist and post-modernist music and its evolution through time, as well as the cultural and political events that helped shape and were shaped by this music. Discussions will include the development of various musical styles and compositional procedures.Prerequisite: ENG 151
