Description
Major figures and directions in existential philosophy will be studied, including such figures as Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Sartre, Camus, and Ricoeur. Existential philosophy will be considered both as a reaction against rationalist and positivist thought and as a new attempt to examine and define human values. The course will pay some attention to related developments in religion and psychology.
