Description
An introduction to ethnomusicology geared to students with no musical training. A study of music as a world phenomenon, with emphasis on its relationship to indigenous societal and cultural values and customs, function, and significance. The course will aid students in understanding how different instruments and sounds are integral to all humanity, and will guide students toward becoming better critical and analytical musical listeners and interpreters.
