Description
Biochemistry I covers the chemical nature of the major classes of biomolecules: proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids. The student will understand the relationships between the chemical structures and the biological functions of the biomolecules. The focus will be on enzyme kinetics, bioenergetics, and how they relate to biological pathways. Communication pathways between cells will also be discussed. This course also serves as excellent preparation for MCAT, DAT, and other graduate school entrance exams and enables success in graduate level Biochemistry courses.
