Women and the Fine Arts

Description

This course examines the two-fold relationship of women to the fine arts; their role as subjects and as artists. Topics such as the portrayal of women as goddess, mother, and housewife, and as artist will be undertaken with a view to the social and historical input and implication of this imagery. The circumstances of women artists from the Renaissance to the present will also be considered. (arts & com).
