Course Title

Intermediate Painting

Description

An intermediate painting course. Students develop new skills and approaches to painting while refining the basics of studio use and technique. Concentration on studio practice and further exposure to important movements within the discipline improves students’ understanding of painting past and present. Students continue to work from direct observation, sharpening skills in drawing, use of color, process, craft and composition. Projects foster problem solving and creative solutions. Critique and class discussions play an increased role as students learn to articulate observations about their own work and that of others. Field trip, presentations, written assignments and individual research deepen students’ connection between their paintings and professional practice.
