Description
An introduction to the fundamentals of creating sculpture. Students work in a variety of sculptural media in conjunction with learning the formal principles and skills relevant to the creation of sculpture and the safe and responsible use of hand tools. Projects are introduced through class presentations, demonstrations and discussion. Studio work helps students to develop an understanding of and competency in material, technique, theoretical and conceptual aspects of sculpture. Media includes wood, stone, mixed-media construction, cardboard, clay, metal, and plaster. Some drawing is required for the development of individual projects.
