Description
An introduction to the fundamentals of drawing. The course teaches observation and recording of objects, figures and environments in order to achieve accurate representation. Strategies such as gesture, contour, analysis and revision are explored. Through weekly observational work and individual feedback, students improve technique while building an understanding of regular practice in an artist’s development. Group discussion and critique, presentations, field trips and written assignments encourage a link to the broader context of the discipline, including contemporary drawing. Instruction is tailored to each student’s level of accomplishment.
