An overview of the field of child development. The course will survey the current scientific thinking about development, focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on the physical, cognitive and social development of human infants and children. Key themes will tie together the course, including the complementary roles of nature and nurture, the contributions of individuals to their own development, and the influence of social and cultural factors on development.
