The Music of J.S. Bach

Catalog Description

An examination of the music of J. S. Bach in a variety of genres: keyboard, chamber music, orchestral, and cantata. Issues of musical style and structure will be emphasized. Secondary considerations include issues of theology, symbolism, and historical theory. Extensive listening assignments. Prerequisites: Junior standing; MUS 204; MUS 224 and MUS 226 and MUS 244 and any 200-level or above TALA course;Pre- or corequisite: MUS 304 and MUS 325
