Introduction to Speech and Language Pathology
Catalog Description
An introduction to the field of Speech and Language Pathology. The course offers students an overview of the profession, its scope of practice, and the scientific foundations of communication and swallowing disorders. Students will learn about the typical speech, language, and swallowing subsystems and the nature and characteristics of impairments affecting them. Additionally, students will explore how communication and swallowing disorders are assessed and treated, and how cultural and linguistic factors influence practice.
