Perioperative Nursing Care
Catalog Description
Focusing on the role of the professional nurse in the specialty of perioperative nursing within the client’s cultural context. Students will learn how social determinants of health, diversity, impact the professional nurse’s role in the creation of an inclusive practice environment that fosters positive patient outcomes. Students will apply principles of evidence-based practice, as well as health information technology. Students will discriminate the impact of the core values of nursing practice, as they relate to QSEN ® (Quality & Safety education for nurses) indicators. Students will analyze the effectiveness of current strategies to minimize risk of harm to clients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance as it relates to established practice guidelines set forth by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
