Description
A one-semester survey of United States History designed for students pursuing the SLS degree. The course contributes to the liberal arts general education of SLS students while also ensuring that students will acquire content competency and analytical skills that will prepare them for careers in teaching in New York City and State. This course focuses on the content of U.S. history, taught with a high level of student engagement and experiential learning that models effective teaching. The course does not aim to develop students’ curriculum and pedagogy skills, which are addressed elsewhere in the SLS degree requirements. Students majoring in SLS must take this course in order to satisfy the social science 200-level requirement.
