Description

Study of major U.S. political institutions-the Presidency, Congress, Supreme Court, bureaucracy, and the Democratic and Republican parties. The course will emphasize the extent to which the actual workings of our political systems differ from, and are affected by, constitutional theory and legal rules and thus will discuss the impact of pressure groups and public opinion. It will also cover selected state and local political issues. Not open to students who have taken POL 100.
